ABOUT

I obtained a First Class degree in Psychology from Trinity College, Dublin in 2004 and a Masters degree in Criminology from University of Sydney in 2005. I received my Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from University of Liverpool in 2011.
Clinical Psychologists have specialised training in assessing and treating people of all ages with a wide range of emotional and mental health problems. Sometimes these problems have a specific diagnosis like depression or personality disorder. Other times they don’t have a label. Either way, my treatment approach is tailored to your needs.
The first few sessions involve gathering information to build up a shared and accurate understanding of what’s driving your problems. This ensures treatment is based on your unique needs.
I have worked in a range of clinical settings (outpatient, inpatient, community, forensic community, forensic high secure) and with clients of all age groups with all sorts of presenting problems. I spent several years working in Ireland after obtaining my Masters degree. First in a community service for perpetrators of child sexual abuse, and subsequently in a service for adults with learning disabilities and developmental disorders.
I moved to the UK to do my clinical doctorate in 2008, and was employed within the National Health Service as a Senior Clinical Psychologist prior to relocating to Prague in 2013. During my clinical training, I completed extensive clinical placements within the NHS. I have worked across community and specialist services with children, families, and adults, including mental health, learning disability, and brain injury settings. My experience includes delivering group and individual therapy for people facing complex mental health and social difficulties; running attachment-focused parenting groups and providing consultation and educational assessments to support children in school; offering direct and systemic support to adults with learning disabilities, their families and carers; and assessing cognitive and psychological needs in a brain injury unit, where I also implemented support plans and provided family support.
Post-qualification, I worked as a Senior Clinical Psychologist in a high secure service for male offenders with severe and enduring mental disorders who were deemed to pose a grave and immediate risk to others. Within this role I developed and delivered group and individual therapies for people with severe mental health problems, sexual offending histories, self-harming behaviour and personality disorder. I also devised treatment plans for clients with traumatic brain injuries and facilitated reflective practice with staff.
